Joel Wright – Your Art Mentor
Hello, I’m Joel Wright and my experience in art spans over 23 years in painting, drawing, and tattooing. I work in a variety of mediums, including graphite, watercolor, oil paintings, charcoal, and tattooing.
I am passionate about helping other artists reach their full potential and have a strong belief in the power of classical atelier training but with a twist of expression and abstraction.
I have been fortunate to have the luxury of studying from some of the best artists in the world (in my opinion) and have developed a unique approach to teaching that combines both classical realism and expressive painting techniques.
I believe that by learning both painting approaches, artists can excel in their ability more efficiently and in less time and at a way lower cost that traditional art school.
I understand that every artist is unique, and that’s why I take a personalized approach to mentoring. I will work closely with you to understand your goals and help you develop a plan to achieve them. Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced artist, I will provide guidance and support to help you improve your skills and develop your own unique style.
I believe that art should be accessible to everyone and that’s why my studio is open to everyone, welcoming diversity and LGBTQ+ friendly.
I believe that everyone has the potential to create beautiful art and it’s my quest to help you unlock your creative superpowers.
My mentoring program is flexible and can be tailored to fit your schedule. You can choose to have online or in-person sessions, and my program is designed to be affordable and accessible to all.
I know you are ready to take your art to the next level and I will be honored to be your mentor. Spots however are limited.
Feel free to contact me and we can discuss your goals and how I can help you achieve them. Let’s make your artistic dreams of self expression a physical reality.

What You can expect with Art Mentoring
Assignments with Email Feedback: Tailored to What You Want to Achieve
One of the key features of art mentoring is the personalized assignments that you will receive. Your mentor will work with you to understand your goals and create assignments tailored to your needs. And with email feedback, you will receive detailed instructions and tips on how to improve your skills. This individualized approach ensures that you are receiving the guidance and support that you need to grow as an artist.
Get Consistent with Your Creative Practice
One of the biggest obstacles that artists face is consistency in their creative practice. With art mentoring, you will receive regular assignments and feedback, which will help you stay on track and maintain a consistent practice. This will not only help you improve your skills but also develop a deeper understanding of the creative process.
Personalized Objectives to Reach Your Goals
Another great benefit of art mentoring is the ability to set personalized objectives and work towards them with your mentor. Whether you want to improve your painting skills, learn how to draw more accurately, or develop your own style, your mentor will help you identify your goals and create a plan to reach them. With clear objectives, you will have a clear roadmap to follow and can measure your progress along the way.
Develop Your Own Style
One of the most important aspects of being an artist is developing your own unique style. With art mentoring, you will have the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and styles to find what works best for you. Your mentor will provide guidance and support as you explore different methods and techniques, and will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. This will help you to refine your style and create a body of work that is true to yourself.
Learn Classical Art Training
Another important aspect of art mentoring is the opportunity to receive classical art training. This will include learning the fundamentals of drawing, composition, and color theory. This will provide you with a solid foundation that will help you improve your skills and create more compelling artworks.
Learn How to Loosen Up With Expressive Styles
In addition to classical training, you will also learn how to loosen up and become more expressive in your art. Your mentor will help you develop more fluid, spontaneous mark-making and explore different techniques to create more expressive artworks. This will help you to develop your own personal style and create more dynamic and interesting artworks.
Monthly One on One Time
With art mentoring, you will receive monthly one on one time with your mentor. This will give you the opportunity to discuss your progress, ask questions, and receive personalized feedback. This regular check-in will keep you on track and ensure that you are receiving the support that you need to succeed.
Online or In-person Meetings
